Building the Bridge Between Schools and the Tech Industry
Working with Skills Development Scotland Digital World is bringing the tech industry into the classroom.
The purpose of the Digital World initiative is to inspire and support people in Scotland to take up careers in digital technologies.
They are setting out to build the most essential of ecosystem foundations – The bridge between schools and the tech industry.
This is a crucial link. Having a clear career path is a critical success factor required to engage more young people into their first steps on to the path of computing skills.
Their program includes a digital apprenticeships scheme and resources to help teachers introduce tech career materials into their learning, and an ongoing schedule of events to engage Scottish tech businesses into a variety of activities of involvement with schools, supported by this toolkit.
Tech Industry in the Classroom
Working with partners Skills Development Scotland they are offering a catalogue of best practice engagements for educating schoolchildren about the various aspects and careers within the tech industry.
These includes sessions such as Cyber Security Education, A Web Development Lesson and an Introduction to Software Testing.
