Social Tech
A Digital Nation program to identify, and action, the transformational role technology can play in bettering society, tackling deep issues such as poverty and homelessness.
‘Social Tech’ refers to Social Technology, the category of technology that seeks to identify and apply how it can enable social transformation.
The main program activities include:
- Technology innovation support services – Helping small non-profits scale their programs through free IT consulting, to harness powerful capabilities such as email collaboration and growing donations.
- Digital ventures – Pioneer digital business models for tackling previously intractable social needs in a new way, such as helping the unemployed find new routes to work and new ways to support and help the homeless.
- Systemic transformation – Work collectively with the social sector to identify the opportunity for wholesale improvements through Social Impact Investing and ‘Social Stock Exchanges’, and identify the large scale transformations key technologies like the Blockchain might play in accelerating their impact.
